How to Choose the Decor Style

As soon as we rent/buy our house or apartment, we already imagine how we are going to decorate every corner, so that it is harmonious, cozy, and just like us!

Not least because it needs to be a place where you have to be in a hurry to get back. A place that offers comfort, tranquility, and security after a busy day at work.

But before we go out and buy a sofa, a rug, a curtain, or any other decoration item, it is important to analyze it and have a goal.

In other words, choose your decoration style!

And what is a style? A style is created according to the changes that occur in society.

For example, the classical style is something that came from the old days. Society lived in a way where objects meant possession, and the presence of gold was synonymous with wealth.

Nowadays, styles that seek practicality, such as minimalism, are more in fashion, meaning that less is more!

Therefore, it is interesting that you define which decoration style you like the most, avoiding that you buy a piece of furniture and a piece of each style, leaving your house a real carnival.  

Not that this is bad. But care must be taken so that there is harmony in the decoration and you can feel good in the environment!

One thing is a fact: everyone who is building or remodeling has a pinboard on Pinterest or on his or her cell phone, owns books, magazines, or any other medium that talks about the subject. Isn’t that true?

Your decor needs to adapt and fit in with the climate you live in!

For example, a skin spread out on top of the sofa does not go very well if you live in a region where it is hot practically all year round.

Or, use classic style furniture that holds velvet and gold in a beach region that has humidity and materials oxidize easily. It won’t work very well, right?

• Accessories:

Let’s suppose you have looked in a magazine and decided that your preferred style is minimalist. Your dream is to have that clean, easy-to-clean room.

But, you love accessories, such as carpets, curtains, and decorative objects, for example.

So, it could be that your style is not quite the minimalist, but some other style, do you agree?

So try to analyze well and see if the style is really in line with your taste!

• Visual appeal:

This means that the decoration needs to agree with those who frequent the environment!

One more example: it would make no sense for a technology company to use a rustic decoration, all worked in dark tones, wood, chandelier with rustic wheel, leather rug, etc.

The ideal would be a more high-tech style, wouldn’t it?

So the style you choose needs to reflect who you are and the image you want to convey!
